KORELASI KONDISI FISIK DAN KIMIA AIR DENGAN JUMLAH LARVA NYAMUK PADA TEMPAT PENAMPUNGAN AIR

Putri, Yolanda Delia - Personal Name;

Mosquitoes are vectors of infectious diseases such as dengue fever, malaria, and filariasis. Their breeding activity is strongly influenced by environmental factors, particularly the physical and chemical characteristics of water in potential breeding containers. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between water’s physical and chemical conditions and the number of mosquito larvae in Bukit Siguntang Archaeological Park, Palembang City. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Samples included all natural and artificial water containers found indoors and outdoors. Measured physical and chemical parameters included temperature, pH, salinity, and total dissolved solids (TDS). Larvae were morphologically identified to determine mosquito genus. Data were analyzed using Pearson and Spearman correlation tests. A total of 7 water containers were found—4 indoor (57.14%) and 3 outdoor (42.86%). Only two ponds were positive for larvae (13 individuals), all identified as Culex genus. The average temperature was 30.29℃, pH 7.9, salinity 0.11‰, and TDS 57.14 ppm. Correlation analysis revealed significant relationships between pH (r=0.858; p=0.014) and salinity (r=0.764; p=0.046) with the number of larvae, while temperature (p=0.113) and TDS (p=0.740) were not significant. Larval indices indicated ABJ 100%, HI 0%, and CI 0%, suggesting the area was free from Aedes larvae. There is a significant correlation between pH and salinity of water and the number of mosquito larvae in Bukit Siguntang Archaeological Park. Temperature and TDS showed no significant effect. Overall, the study area is categorized as Aedes-free with low mosquito larval density.
