DISTRIBUSI FAKTOR RISIKO DAN KLASIFIKASI PLASENTA PREVIA PADA IBU HAMIL DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2023-2024
Background. Placenta previa is a condition in which the placenta implants in the lower uterine segment, close to or covering the internal cervical os, either partially or completely. Without early identification, placenta previa can cause antepartum hemorrhage, which can lead to maternal death. This study aims to identify the distribution of risk factors and classification of placenta previa in pregnant women at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang during the 2023–2024 period. Methods. This research is a descriptive observational study using secondary data from the medical records of pregnant women diagnosed with placenta previa at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang in the 2023–2024 period. All pregnant women with the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included as research subjects using a total sampling method. Results. A total of 56 out of 2,254 pregnant women (2,48%) were diagnosed with placenta previa during the 2023–2024 period. The distribution of risk factors was higher among women aged 20–35 years (67,9%), multiparous (60,7%), no history of placenta previa (92,9%), had history of cesarean section (62,5%), no history of curettage (78,6%), no use of assisted reproductive technology (ART) (100%), singleton pregnancy (96,4%), and male fetal sex (58,6%). The most common classification of placenta previa is placenta previa totalis (85,7%). Conclusion. The distribution of placenta previa at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang, during the 2023–2024 period remained quite high (2.48%) compared to the national average. Therefore, early detection of placenta previa needs to be increased to prevent complications in the mother and fetus. Keywords. Risk factors, Classification, Placenta previa
