KARAKTERISTIK NYERI PUNGGUNG BAWAH DAN PROFIL LATIHAN YOGA PADA KOMUNITAS X DI KOTA PALEMBANG
Introduction. Low back pain (LBP) is a common musculoskeletal complaint influenced by various risk factors. Yoga, as a non-pharmacological therapy, is known to help improve LBP symptoms. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of LBP and the profile of yoga practice in community X in Palembang City. Methods. This study was a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional approach involving active members of yoga community X in Palembang. Data were collected using a questionnaire covering respondents’ sociodemographic characteristics, yoga practice profile, and LBP characteristics measured using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results. Most respondents practiced yoga for 45–60 minutes per session, once a week, and for more than 2 years. The majority experienced acute LBP with mild pain intensity, complaint duration of less than 1 week, and recurrence frequency of 1–2 times per month. After regularly practicing yoga, more respondents were categorized as having mild pain to no pain. Conclusion. Most of community X had normal BMI, were young adults, non-smokers, and worked in the formal sector. The characteristics of LBP were predominantly a frequency of 1–2 times per month, a duration of less than 1 week, and mild pain intensity, with a tendency toward improvement after yoga practice. The yoga practice profile generally showed a duration of 45–60 minutes per session with a frequency of once per week, and most were new practitioners since 2023.
