PENERAPAN AROMATERAPI LEMON DALAM MENURUNKAN MUAL DAN MUNTAH PADA IBU HAMIL TRIMESTER I DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS SAKO PALEMBANG
Nausea and vomits are common things suffered by pregnant women during pregnancy in the first trimester. The cause of nausea and vomit is due to an increase in the estrogen hormone and the hormone of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). Excessive nausea and vomits that are not immediately addressed can cause the body to become weak, dehydrated, pale, and the blood will become thick due to a slowdown in blood circulation. The management of nausea and vomit can be carried out by nurses using pharmacological and non- pharmacological methods. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can reduce nausea and vomits is using lemon aromatherapy. It is a therapy that utilizes essential oil components contained in the lemon plant. The aimed of this study was to provide nursing care in the first trimester to pregnant women suffering nausea and vomiting by applying the lemon aromatherapy. The research method was qualitative with a case study approach to 3 pregnant women in the first trimester. The results of the study showed that there were three nursing problems conducted to pregnant women in the first trimester with the main problem of being nausea. The application of lemon aromatherapy was able to reduce the level of nausea and vomits in the three pregnant women in the first trimester because the lemon aromatherapy could affect the limbic system to reduce the condition of nausea and vomits suffered by the pregnant women.
