PENINGKATAN KETERSEDIAAN HARA N DAN P SERTA PERTUMBUHAN TANAMAN PAKCOY (BRASSICA CHINENSIS L.) DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN PGPR JAGUNG DAN KOMPOS-BIOCHAR PADA ULTISOL
Ultisol is one of the widely distributed soil types in Indonesia, and considering its extensive distribution, Ultisol has the potential to be utilized for agricultural purposes. However, Ultisol generally has low soil fertility, such as acidic soil pH and low nutrient content. One effort to improve Ultisol fertility is the utilization of PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) derived from corn roots and a combination of compost-biochar. Corn PGPR can enhance nitrogen availability, solubilize phosphate, and support plant root growth and health. Additionally, the combination of compost-biochar, particularly rice husk, can improve soil physical properties and fertility. This study aims to determine the effects of corn PGPR and compost-biochar application on N and P nutrient availability and the growth of pakcoy plants on Ultisol. The research was conducted from September to December 2023 in a plastic house located in the Agricultural Training Center (ATC) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research implemented a Completely Randomized Factorial Design (CRFD)/(RALF) with 2 factors, each treatment was replicated 3 times, resulting in 27 polybag units. The corn PGPR treatment with a dosage of (A2) 38.8 x 106 CFU g-1 significantly increased soil pH, total N, available P, plant height, leaf count, shoot fresh weight, and root fresh weight. The compost-biochar treatment with a dosage of (B2) 24 g polybag-1 significantly increased soil pH, total soil N, available P, plant height, leaf count, shoot fresh weight, and root fresh weight. The combination treatment of corn PGPR and compost-biochar with a dosage of (A2B2) 38.8 x 106 CFU g-1 and 24 g polybag 1 tended to provide the best effect in improving soil pH, total N, available P, plant height, leaf count, shoot fresh weight, and root fresh weight.
