PERSEPSI DAN PERILAKUANAK REMAJA SEKOLAH TERHADAP PELAKSANAAN PROGRAM GERAKAN SUMSEL MANDIRI PANGAN GOES TO SCHOOL DALAM PEMELIHARAAN TANAMAN HORTIKULTURA DI KOTA PALEMBANG
Youth participation in the agricultural sector is one of the main challenges in maintaining food security in Indonesia. The Gerakan Sumsel Mandiri Pangan Goes to School (GSMP GTS) program was initiated as an effort to raise awareness and engage adolescents in the maintenance of horticultural crops, particularly in the city of Palembang. This study aims to analyze the perceptions and behaviors of adolescents toward the implementation of the GSMP GTS program, identify the factors that influence their perceptions, and examine the relationship between those perceptions and their horticultural maintenance practices. The study employed a survey method using a saturated sampling technique, involving 40 students from SMK Negeri 6 Palembang located in Ilir Timur II Distric, SMA Negeri 3 Palembang Kemuning District, SMK Negeri 3 Palembang Ilir Barat I District, and SMK Negeri 2 Palembang Ilir Timur I District, all of whom actively participated in the GSMP GTS program. Data were analyzed both descriptively and inferentially using multiple linear regression and Spearman’s rank correlation. The results revealed that adolescents’ perceptions of the GSMP GTS program ranged from good to excellent, as did their behavior in maintaining horticultural crops. Motivation and attendance were found to significantly influence adolescents’ perceptions, with attendance having a particularly strong effect (β = 0.806). Furthermore, a significant positive relationship was found between perception and behavior in horticultural maintenance activities. These findings indicate that the GSMP GTS program has a positive impact in fostering sustainable agricultural practices among high school students in Palembang.
