HUBUNGAN ANEMIA PADA KEHAMILAN DAN KEJADIAN PREMATURITAS DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PERIODE JUNI 2023 - JUNI 2025
Background: Anemia in pregnancy is a common maternal health problem contributing to prematurity, morbidity, and maternal–infant mortality. Low hemoglobin leads to placental hypoxia, HPA-axis activation, and increased prostaglandins that trigger early uterine contractions. This study analyzed the association between anemia and prematurity at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods: This analytic observational study employed a retrospective case-control design using medical records of women who delivered between June 2023 and June 2025. A total sampling technique was applied, yielding 1,753 pregnant women who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data included hematological parameters (Hb, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RBC) and obstetric characteristics. The association between anemia and prematurity was analyzed using the Chi-square test (p13, suggestive of iron deficiency, was the predominant pattern. Early detection through hemoglobin screening, red cell evaluation, and optimized iron supplementation from early pregnancy is essential to reduce the incidence of prematurity.
