KESESUAIAN PEMERIKSAAN FULL THICKNESS BIOPSY DENGAN TATALAKSANA DEFINITIF PADA PENDERITA HIRSCHSPRUNG DISEASE DI RSUP MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2023-2025

Livani, Aulia Mutia - Personal Name;

Background: Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) is a congenital intestinal disorder caused by aganglionosis that requires histopathological confirmation; a full-thickness biopsy (FTB) is sometimes used to establish the diagnosis and determine definitive management. Methods: This retrospective descriptive-analytic study used medical records from Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang (January 2023–April 2025). Of 609 patients coded with ICD-10 Q43.1, 61 met the inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed descriptively and through cross-tabulation of FTB performance, FTB results, and definitive management. Results: Of the 61 subjects, most were male (70.5%), and the most common presenting complaint was abdominal distension (96.7%). FTB was performed in 29 patients, with a 69% positivity rate for HSCR. A total of 19 patients underwent operative management, while 42 were observed. The analysis showed a 62.5% concordance between FTB results and definitive management (p = 0.098), and no significant association between FTB performance and operative intervention (p = 0.276). Conclusion: FTB provides useful histopathological data (69% positivity), but management decisions must remain clinically driven. Keywords: Hirschsprung disease, Full-Thickness Biopsy, management, concordance.
