KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN YANG DATANG DENGAN HIPOGLIKEMIA DI IGS RS MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2023-2024
Hypoglycemia is a condition characterized by decreased blood glucose levels which serves as the primary energy substrate for brain metabolism, its reduction is critical therefore the brain compensates for this state by conserving glucose utilization, which may manifest as impaired consciousness. Currently, there has been no recent study investigating similar topics in the Emergency Department of RSMH Palembang. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the distribution and characteristics of patients presenting with hypoglycemia in the emergency department of RSMH Palembang. This study used a descriptive observational design using secondary data from medical records of hypoglycemic patients who presented to the emergency department between January 2023 and December 2024. Total sampling was applied, yielding 56 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Hypoglycemia was most frequently observed among patients aged 60–69 years (25.0%), predominantly female (62.5%), employed (44.6%), and with a history of diabetes (66.1%).
