HUBUNGAN ANTARA DERAJAT HIPERTENSI DENGAN TINGKAT KEPARAHAN RETINOPATI HIPERTENSI PADA PASIEN DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2024

Hypertensive retinopathy is a complication of hypertension that causes damage to the retinal blood vessels. In its early stages, hypertensive retinopathy is typically asymptomatic, but without proper management it may progress to more severe stages, leading to visual impairment and potentially permanent blindness. This study aimed to determine the association between the degree of hypertension and the severity of hypertensive retinopathy among patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2024. A cross-sectional study design was used. The samples consisted of medical records of patients diagnosed with hypertensive retinopathy at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from January to December 2024 who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis included univariate analysis to determine prevalence and sample characteristics, and bivariate analysis to assess the association between hypertension stages and the severity of hypertensive retinopathy. The prevalence of hypertensive retinopathy among hypertensive patients who underwent fundus examination at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang during 2024 was 29.6%. Out of 37 patients (68 eyes) with hypertensive retinopathy, 73% were female and 40.6% were between 40–59 years old. A total of 59.5% of patients had stage 2 hypertension, and 32.4% had grade 2 hypertensive retinopathy. Chi-square analysis showed a p-value of 0.01 for the association between hypertension stages and hypertensive retinopathy grades. These findings indicate that the stages of hypertension are significantly associated with the severity of hypertensive retinopathy.
