PERTUKARAN SOSIAL DALAM TRADISI KIDAHAN DI DESA PAGAR AGUNG KECAMATAN RAMBANG KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM

The kidahan tradition can be called a child engagement which is held as a circumcision thanksgiving but this engagement is not binding on the kidahan couple until adulthood. The people of Pagar Agung Village, Rambang Sub-district, Muara Enim Regency still hold the kidahan tradition. The purpose of this research is to find out the social exchange in the kidahan tradition in Pagar Agung Village, Rambang District, Muara Enim Regency. This research uses the theory of social exchange proposed by Peter M Blau. The results of this study are that the kidahan tradition has aspects of social norms and values, several aspects, namely; 1) relatives and neighbors participate in mutual cooperation to help the kidahan tradition process, 2) friendship between the kidahan tradition organizers and relatives and neighbors, 3) adding to the family, meaning that both sides of the kidahan couple's family are considered to have officially become a large family.
