PENERAPAN TERAPI AKUPRESUR UNTUK MENGURANGI MUAL MUNTAH PADA PASIEN PASCA KEMOTERAPI DI RUANGAN SELINCAH II RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG.
Background: The main effect of chemotherapy in children with cancer can be nausea and vomiting caused by the use of chemotherapy drugs. Uncontrolled nausea and vomiting can cause electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, anorexia, weight loss and etcetera. If these side effects do not receive immediate treatment, nausea and vomiting will have bad effects on the sufferer. One action that can be taken is to provide non-pharmacological therapy, namely by providing acupressure therapy. Objective: To explain the implementation of nursing care practices and applying acupressure therapy to reduce nausea and vomiting in post- chemotherapy patients. Method: Qualitative descriptive with a case study approach on three pediatric patients with complaints of nausea and vomiting post chemotherapy. Results: The results of providing non-pharmacological intervention was acupressure therapy which was carried out for 3 minutes every day, showed that there was a reduction of 3 to 4 points on the nausea scale in the three patients. Discussion: Acupressure therapy was given to three patients as a non-pharmacological therapy where acupressure therapy at points P6 and ST36 could reduce the frequency, amount and severity of nausea and vomiting cause chemotherapy. Conclusion: applying acupressure therapy by massaging and stimulating the P6 and ST36 points for 3 minutes can reduce the level of nausea in pediatric patients undergoing chemotherapy.
