STRUKTUR POPULASI Nypa fruticans (Thunb.) Wurmb PADA PERBEDAAN KADAR SALINITAS DI PULAU PAYUNG BANYUASIN II SUMATERA SELATAN
Nipah (Nypa fruticans (Thunb.) Wurmb) is belongs to the Arecaceae, it occupy the marginal zone influenced by freshwater. Pulau Payung is located in Sungsang estuary where there are several rivers i.e. Musi River, Banyuasin River and other creeks. With those flowing rivers and being closed to the sea, it was predicted that salinity levels in Pulau Payung could affect to the the population structure of Nypa. This research was aimed to observed population structure of Nypa (density, frequency and dominance) at different salinity level based on its growth level (Mature, Adul, Juvenile, Seedling). This research was carried in February 2024 on Pulau Payung, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. The method used the direct observation by, determining location with the purposive sampling method based on by differences of salinity levels. The abiotic parameters comprised sea water salinity, pore water salinity, soil pH, soil moisture and substrate texture were also observed. The results showed that there were differences on structure population at different salinity level based on the growth level. In Station 1, at salinity 3.05 ‰, the highest density was found at Adult (506.7 ind/ha) and the lowest was at Juvenile (320 ind/ha), and it was zero at Seedling. The highest dominance was at Mature (129,739.5 m2/ha) and the highest frequency value was at Mature (0.8). In Station 2, at salinity 2.01 ‰, highest density was found at Mature (640 ind/ha) and Seedling (333.3 ind/ha), while the highest dominance was at Mature ((238,700.8 m2/ha) and the highest frequency value was at Mature (1). In Station 3, at salinity 0.58‰, the highest density was found at Mature (793.3 ind/ha), the highest dominance was at Mature (355,770.7 m2/ha) at Seedling it was zero and the highest frequency value was at Mature (1).
