DESIGNING CONTEXT-BASED FINANCIAL MATHEMATICS TASKS: AN ADVANCED MODEL FOR VOCATIONAL STUDENTS
This dissertation aims to design financial mathematics tasks based context for vocational students. The focus area is how to design a task which is valid, practical, and has potential Financial mathematics is a crucial discipline, especially for vocational students. This dissertation focused on designing financial mathematical tasks based on contexts for vocational students that are valid, practical, and have potential effects. For designing contexts, we used the Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) approach and de Lange theory. This research employed a design research methodology with types of development studies. This research was conducted at Vocational High School (VHS) 1 in Jambi City for eleventh-grade students of accounting major as subjects. Data were collected through tests, interviews, documentation, and observations. As a result, all of the contexts designed become valid, practical, and have potential effects. The implication is that students not only developed a deeper understanding of real-world financial issues but also enhanced their decision-making abilities in financial contexts. They also become more aware of the advantages and risks of financial products and are able to plan the best strategies for financial problems. Additionally, teachers expressed a greater willingness to adopt the PMRI approach and de Lange theory in their instruction. This context can effectively support the teaching of financial mathematics in VHS.
