PERAN SHYNESS DAN SOCIAL CONNECTEDNESS TERHADAP LONELINESS PADA DEWASA AWAL PENGGUNA MEDIA SOSIAL
This research aims to find out the role of shyness and social connectedness towards loneliness in young adult social media users. The hypothesis in this research is that there is a role between shyness and social connectedness on loneliness. The respondents in this study were 250 young adults who actively used social media for at least two hours per day in Indonesia. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The measuring instrument used in this research are the loneliness scale which refers to the loneliness aspect of Austin (1983), then the shyness scale which refers to the shyness component of Carducci (2013) and the social connectedness scale which refers to the social connectedness dimension of Van Bel (2009). Data analysis in this research was carried out using multiple linear regression techniques. The results of the regression analysis show an R square value of 0.544 with an F value of 147.103, and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This shows that shyness and social connectedness have a significant role in loneliness. Thus the hypothesis proposed in this research can be accepted.
