Riza, M. Abyan - Personal Name;

Background : Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is one of the pregnancy risk factors caused by bacterial infection which, if not properly managed, can worsen pregnancy outcomes. Various risk factors such as age, socioeconomic status, education level, parity, frequency of sexual intercourse, number of pregnancies, history of UTI, and body mass index may influence the occurrence of UTI. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of UTI and analyze its risk factors among pregnant women at RSIA Rika Amelia Palembang. Objective : To identify the risk factors associated with the occurrence of UTI in pregnant women at RSIA Rika Amelia Palembang. Methods : This study used a cross-sectional design with a descriptive approach conducted from July to October 2025. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires and urine examinations with dipstick tests. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with SPSS software. Results : The prevalence of UTI was 34.4%. Risk factors associated with UTI included maternal age 20–35 years, monthly income of IDR 3–4.7 million, last education level of senior high school, third-trimester pregnancy, parity of one, frequency of sexual intercourse 2–3 times per week, history of recurrent UTI, daily water intake of less than eight glasses, and BMI between 25.0–29.9 (obesity grade 1). Conclusion : UTI in pregnant women results from the interaction of biological, behavioral, and socioeconomic factors. Education on personal hygiene, increased hydration, and routine urine examination, especially during the third trimester, are strongly recommended as preventive measures against UTI during pregnancy. Keywords : Urinary tract infection, pregnant women, risk factors, dipstick, Rika Amelia Maternity Hospital Palembang
