ANALISIS PENINGKATAN KUALITAS PASIR TIMAH UNTUK MEMENUHI KEBUTUHAN INDUSTRI PELEBURAN TIMAH DALAM SKALA LABORATORIUM MENGGUNAKAN JIG TIPE PAN AMERICAN
Tin sand is a sand deposit containing cassiterite (SnO2) as the main mineral and several other associated minerals. The mineral found in tin ore is the main mineral called cassiterite. The processing of excavated materials so that their content or quality can be improved through jigs until they meet marketing criteria or for smelting. This study used a pan-American type jig with western operating variables of feed, blow frequency, and blow length. The feed weight used was 0.5 kg, 1 kg, and 1.5 kg. The blow frequencies used were 19 rpm, 21 rpm, and 23 rpm. The blow lengths used were 0.5 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.7 mm. The highest concentrate content in this study was 38.81% with a weight variable of 1 kg, a frequency of 19 rpm, and a blow length of 0.6 mm. The highest recovery value was in the experiment with a feed weight variation of 1.5 kg, at a punch frequency of 23 rpm, and a punch length of 0.6 mm with a recovery value of 94.04%, while the content required to meet the requirements for tin smelting is ≥ 70% so that there is no Sn content from the experiment that meets the Sn content requirements for the tin smelting industry.
