RESKI SEPTI VERONIKA, Reproductive Status of Beef Cattle Post Food and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Lamongan Regency (Supervised by LANGGENG PRIYANTO) Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is one of the contagious diseases in cloven-hoofed animals with high morbidity rates, causing significant economic losses particularly for livestock farmers. The widespread transmission of FMD can also lead to a decline in livestock populations in a region. This study aims to investigate the impact of decreased reproduction in female beef cattle after infection with Foot and Mouth Disease in Lamongan Regency. The research was conducted from July to August 2023. A quantitative approach using survey and purposive sampling methods was employed, with both primary and secondary data collection. Research parameters included beef cattle type, vaccination history, return to estrus after infection, recovery time from FMD, pregnancy rate, age of cattle, body condition score, feed type, and reproductive disorders postFMD. The study results indicated that the average incidence among beef cattle types ranged from 2% to 5%. Recovery time from FMD varied between 6% and 94%, with vaccination history ranging from 22% to 51%. Rates for cattle returning to estrus were between 9% and 56%, and pregnancy return rates were 25% -53 %. Cattle age ranged from 1% to 60%, body condition scores from 1% to 72%, and feed types from 1% to 98%. 80% of cattle showed no reproductive disorders, while ovarian hypofunction accounted for 6%, endometritis 6%, follicular cysts 2%,atrophy 1%, mummification and silent heat each accounted for 1%. In Lamongan Regency, the post-FMD reproductive status showed overall positive outcomes. However, due to the extended recovery period from FMD, the reproductive performance of beef cattle suffered due to longer estrus cycles. In Lamongan Regency, the post-Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) reproductive status shows favorable outcomes. However, due to the extended recovery period from FMD, the reproductive performance of female beef cattle deteriorates because of longer estrus cycles. Moreover, the low success rate of pregnancies caused by decreased feed intake during infection leads to a decline in body condition score (BCS), resulting in disruptions to reproductive hormone functions. The economic impact of Foot and Mouth Disease includes reduced income for farmers and decreased growth of beef cattle, particularly in female and heifer populations.
