HUBUNGAN IMT DENGAN SIKLUS MENSTRUASI DAN AKNE VULGARIS PADA REMAJA SMA
Background: Adolescents are at risk of experiencing hormonal disturbances due to imbalanced nutritional status, in which excessive body mass index (BMI) may increase androgen levels and insulin resistance, while low BMI may reduce estrogen levels, thereby affecting menstrual cycle regularity and increasing sebum production that triggers acne vulgaris. This study aims to determine the relationship between BMI and menstrual cycle regularity as well as acne vulgaris among senior high school adolescents. Methods: This study employed an observational analytic design with a crosssectional approach using a simple random sampling method. Data were collected through a menstrual cycle questionnaire, measurements of body weight, height, and waist circumference, and observation of acne vulgaris severity by dermatology, venereology, and aesthetic physicians from the Division of Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University.
