PENGEMBANGAN DAN KARAKTERISASI MEMBRAN POLYVINYLIDENE FLUORIDE (PVDF) DENGAN PENAMBAHANAN PERAK NITRAT (AgNO₃) UNTUK APLIKASI PENGOLAHAN AIR
This study is aimed at developing membranes made from Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) modified with the addition of Silver Nitrate (AgNO₃). The membranes are expected to possess robust mechanical properties, optimal surface morphology, high filtration performance, and resistance to fouling. The membranes are fabricated using the phase inversion method, where PVDF solution at varying concentrations of 15%, 20%, and 30% by weight is homogeneously mixed with 1% Silver Nitrate by weight as an antimicrobial agent, along with N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) as the solvent. The casting process is conducted on glass plates after 2-3 hours of mixing until a homogeneous solution is achieved.The membrane characterization includes tensile tests to measure mechanical strength and ductility, microscopic observation using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to analyze pore size, distribution, and surface texture, as well as permeability evaluation by measuring Clean Water Permeability (CWP) as an indicator of filtration efficiency.This study concludes that membrane expansion by increasing the concentration of Polyvinylidene Fluoride at 15 wt%, 20 wt%, and 30 wt%, combined with 1 wt% Silver Nitrate, can enhance tensile strength and increase pore density on the membrane surface.
