GAMBARAN PROGNOSIS PADA PASIEN CEDERA KEPALA SEDANG BERAT DENGAN LESI INTRAKRANIAL DI RS DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG TAHUN 2021-2024

Haviza, Amanda Putri - Personal Name;

Head injuries with moderate to severe severity accompanied by intracranial lesions remain a major clinical challenge, especially because they often lead to significant neurological impairment and even death. This study aims to describe the prognosis of patients with moderate to severe head injury based on lesion type, injury severity, time to arrival, time to surgery, the presence of sequelae, and Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) outcomes at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. This descriptive research used secondary data from medical records of patients treated between 2021–2024, totaling 63 cases that met the study criteria. The most frequent intracranial lesion found was epidural hematoma (EDH) at 54%, followed by subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), subdural hematoma (SDH), intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), and cerebral contusion. Most patients presented with moderate head injury (58.7%). A large proportion arrived more than 12 hours after trauma, and surgical interventions were mostly performed more than one hour after admission. Despite these delays, most patients experienced no sequelae (76.2%), and the majority showed good recovery based on GOS (93.7%), with a low mortality rate of 6.3%. Overall, this study shows that good recovery is still achievable in many patients, especially those with moderate injury and EDH, even when treatment is not always within the ideal time window. These findings highlight the importance of early recognition, timely stabilization, and rapid management to support better clinical outcomes. Keywords: Head Injury, Intracranial Lesion, Prognosis, GOS, Trauma.
