HUBUNGAN DURASI DAN WAKTU PENGGUNAAN GAWAI DENGAN KUALITAS TIDUR PADA REMAJA DI SMA NEGERI 1 PALEMBANG
Adolescents are a group with a high prevalence of mobile device use in Indonesia. Unwise use of mobile devices, either prolonged duration or inappropriate timing, may worsen sleep quality. Sleep quality refers to an individual’s level of satisfaction with their sleep experience, and poor sleep quality can negatively affect adolescents’ health. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the duration and timing of mobile device use and sleep quality among adolescents. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 12th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Palembang using total population sampling. Data were collected via an online questionnaire. Bivariate analysis used the Chi-square test and multivariate analysis employed multiple logistic regression (enter method). Of 310 respondents, 205 (66.13%) reported poor sleep quality. In bivariate analysis, device use duration ≥4 hours/day was significantly associated with poor sleep quality (OR = 1.99; 95% CI: 1.12–3.51; p = 0.018), and device use within one hour before bedtime showed a highly significant association with poor sleep quality (OR = 4.77; 95% CI: 2.61–8.72; p < 0.001). In multivariate analysis, only device use within one hour before bedtime remained significant ((aOR = 4,77; 95% CI 2,61–8,72; p < 0,001). While both duration and timing were associated with poor sleep quality in bivariate analyses, after multivariate adjustment only device use within one hour before bedtime remained an independent risk factor for poor sleep quality in adolescents. Keywords: Adolescents, mobile devices, duration of use, timing of use, sleep quality.
