MOTIF PENGGUNAAN APLIKASI TIKTOK PADA MAHASISWA FISIP PROGRAM STUDI ILMU KOMUNIKASI UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA.
This research has theoretical and practical benefits. The aim of this research is to determine the motives of Communication Science students at Sriwijaya University FISIP in using the TikTok application. This type of research uses quantitative descriptive research methods. By using the Uses and Gratification theory by McQuail. By distributing individual Communication Science students, FISIP, Sriwijaya University, Palembang and Indralaya campuses, there were 64 sample respondents. The conclusions from this research are: First, the information motive, where in this case students use TikTok as a means to search for information and the need for information is fulfilled by using TikTok and even then also use TikTok as a place to convey information. Second, the personal identity motive, where students have a need to be able to find and identify themselves. The third motive is social integration and identity, where students have the desire to be able to establish social interactions with other people through the TikTok application. The fourth motive is entertainment, where in this case students need a means to convey emotions and also to fill their free time, where in this case students overcome boredom and boredom by using the TikTok application by viewing the content in the application. Apart from that, there is also encouragement in students to show an emotional side, a pleasant experience when using the TikTok application which is demonstrated through freedom of expression in creating the content they want.
