AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI HIDROLISAT KOLAGEN TULANG IKAN TENGGIRI (SCOMBEROMORUS COMMERSON) TERHADAP BAKTERI ENTEROCOCCUS FAECALIS

Wahyuningsih, Vina - Personal Name;

In cases of persistent endodontic infection, 20 out of 30 cases were found with Enterococcus faecalis bacteria. This bacteria is also the main pathogen that is still often found in cases after endodontic treatment with a case prevalence of 30% to 90% so it must be removed with antibacterial irrigation solutions. However, root canal irrigation solutions are generally chemical-based and have side effects. Mackerel bone with hydrolyzed collagen has potential as an alternative antibacterial material.The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of Scomberomorus commerson fish bone collagen hydrolysate against Enterococcus faecalis. This research is an in vitro laboratory study. Collagen was extracted with acid solution, followed by hydrolysis process using bromelain enzyme with different hydrolysis time treatments, namely 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes. The antibacterial power test against Enterococcus faecalis was carried out with a disc diffusion test to determine the diameter of the inhibition zone. The positive control in this study was 2% chlorhexidine. The highest average diameter of the inhibition zone was shown by the 2% chlorhexidine as a positive control group of 20.04 mm, followed by the hydrolysis time groups of 120 minutes, 90 minutes, and 60 minutes. The longer hydrolysis time, the greater the diameter of the inhibition zone formed. Hydrolyzed Scomberomorus commerson fish bone collagen with hydrolysis time of 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes has antibacterial power against Enterococcus faecalis.
