HUBUNGAN KADAR ALBUMIN DAN GLOBULIN SERUM DENGAN JENIS TUBERKULOSIS DI RSMH PALEMBANG PERIODE 2022-2025
Background. Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, presenting as Pulmonary TB or Extrapulmonary TB. Alterations in serum protein levels, particularly albumin and globulin, have been associated with inflammatory processes and immune status in TB patients. However, findings across studies remain inconsistent, making it necessary to further examine the relationship between these parameters and TB type. Methods. This study aimed to determine the association between serum albumin, globulin, and albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio with the type of TB among adult patients treated at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital (RSMH) Palembang from 2022 to 2025. Results. Analysis of serum albumin levels showed a statistically significant association with TB type, where low albumin levels were more frequently observed in Extrapulmonary TB. The prevalence ratio (PR) indicated a higher risk of Extrapulmonary TB among patients with low albumin. For serum globulin, no significant association was found between globulin categories and TB type, and the PR showed no meaningful increase in risk. Similarly, the A/G ratio did not demonstrate a significant association with TB type and showed a very weak relationship. Conclusion. There is a significant association between serum albumin levels and TB type, with low albumin linked to a higher likelihood of Extrapulmonary TB despite a weak strength of association. Conversely, serum globulin levels and the A/G ratio were not significantly associated with TB type. These findings suggest that albumin may serve as an additional indicator when considering inflammatory status and potential disease extent in TB patients. Keywords. Tuberculosis, albumin, globulin, A/G ratio, Pulmonary TB, Extrapulmonary TB.
