ANALISIS KESTABILAN LERENG LOWWALL DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE ORDINARY/FELLENIUS DI PT ULIMA NITRA TBK SITE PT BANYAN KOALINDO LESTARI (BKL) SUMATERA SELATAN
Open-pit mining requires safe slope designs, as instability can lead to failures such as the landslide that occurred at the lowwall of Pit 1 North Block at PT Ulima Nitra Tbk. Variations in lithology and increases in groundwater saturation heighten the risk of slope failure, necessitating a comprehensive technical assessment. This study aims to analyze geotechnical parameters, determine the actual safety factor (SF) of the slopes, and propose a geometry that meets safety standards. The Ordinary/Fellenius method was applied to three sections (A–A’, B–B’, and C–C’) using Rocscience Slide v6.0. Laboratory tests yielded a saturated unit weight of 17.41 kN/m³, cohesion of 45.95 kPa, and an internal friction angle of 32.95°. Under half-saturated conditions, all sections were stable with SF A–A’ > 1.05, SF B–B’ = 1.641, and SF C–C’ = 1.647. Under saturated conditions, two sections became unstable, specifically SF B–B’ = 1.040 and SF C–C’ = 1.044, while A–A’ remained stable with SF = 1.070. Geometry optimization limiting slope angle to 38°, bench height to 7 m, and bench width to 9.5 m successfully increased the safety factor to 1.107–1.109. The study concludes that instability occurs mainly in sections B–B’ and C–C’ under saturated conditions, and the proposed geometric modifications effectively improve slope stability to comply with safety regulations.
