MOTIVASI SISWA MENGIKUTI PENGEMBANGAN DIRI MELALUI KEGIATAN EKSTRAKURIKULER SENI DI SMA NEGERI 4 PALEMBANG

Extracurricular arts not only provide opportunities for students to channel their interests and talents, but also offer extensive benefits in students' personal and academic development. SMA Negeri 4 Palembang is known as an educational institution that provides a variety of extracurricular activities to complement students' learning experiences outside the classroom and is one of the schools in Palembang city that realizes the importance of extracurricular activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the motivation of students to participate in extracurricular arts at SMA Negeri 4 Palembang. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. The instrument used was an interview by taking informants 6 students who participated in extracurricular arts. The motivation of students to take part in extracurricular art activities at SMA Negeri 4 Palembang is caused by high intrinsic motivation compared to extrinsic motivation. This can be seen from intrinsic motivation through the interest that students have because of the relaxed extracurricular art activities and the talent that students have had since childhood. As for extrinsic motivation, it is obtained from parental support, being tutored from childhood, being given more pocket money and also the availability of rooms and facilities such as musical instruments, complete dance costumes from schools so that they can motivate students to take part in extracurricular arts. Support from the community environment does not provide motivation to students at all. Keywords: Motivation, Extracurricular, Art, Student.
