PENERAPAN SONIKASI PADA ADSORPSI RHODAMIN B MENGGUNAKAN KARBON AKTIF CANGKANG KELAPA SAWIT TERMODIFIKASI COBALT HIDROKSIDA
This research uses palm oil shells as raw material for making active carbon. Activated carbon was activated using 10% H3PO4 and modified using Co(OH)2. The obtained pHPZC value is at pH 7, so the adsorption in this study was conducted at pH 8. In this research, adsorption was determined from adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherms. Based on the results of XRD, FTIR electron microscope and BET characterization, modification of activated carbon–Co(OH)2 has been successfully carried out. Sonication method is able to adsorb more Rhodamine B compared to the shaking method. The percentage of adsorption obtained using sonication method is 71.59%, while using the shaking method it is 56.56%. The optimum conditions obtained in the Rhodamine B adsorption process using activated carbon-Co(OH)2 are at an adsorbent weight of 0.075 grams, a Rhodamine B concentration of 60 mg/L, and a sonication time of 10 minutes. The adsorption capacity of activated carbon–Co(OH)2 obtained was 14.637 mg/g. The adsorption kinetic model of activated carbon–Co(OH)2 on Rhodamine B dye follows the pseudo second order kinetic model. The adsorption isotherm model for activated carbon–Co(OH)2 tends to follow the Freundlich equation. The kinetic adsorption capacity obtained is greater than isotherm.
