SINTESIS KOMPOSIT Fe3O4/KARBON AKTIF@NiO UNTUK ADSORPSI DAN DEGRADASI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED
This research aims to synthesize Fe3O4/activated carbon@NiO composite used in the adsorption and degradation process of Congo red dye. Nanomagnetic Fe3O4 utilized to reduce the band gap value of NiO as well to impart magnetic properties. Activated carbon from bamboo is utilized as an adsorbent in the adsorption process and NiO as a photocatalyst in the degradation process. The Fe3O4/activated carbon@NiO composite was synthesized using the precipitation method to produce a blackish brown powder which has magnetic properties. The synthesized composite was characterized using VSM, XRD, and UV-Vis DRS. The VSM characterization result show a saturation magnetization value of 56.24 emu/g. The results of characterization using XRD have diffraction patterns that are in accordance with JCPDS no.01-076-0956 with angles of 18.32°, 30.13°, 35.46°, 43.11°, 44.52°, 57.03°, 62.65°, and 62.88° and a particle size of 16.06 nm. The result of characterization using UV-Vis DRS show an energy gap of 1.92 eV. The best conditions for congo red dye adsorption using the Fe3O4/activated carbon@NiO composite were obtained at pH 5 with a concentration of 20 ppm at a contact time of 120 minutes. The precentage effectiveness of concentration reduction obtained by irradiation was 81.68% and without irradiation was 68.41%.
