SINTESIS KOMPOSIT NiFe2O4/KARBON AKTIF@ZnO UNTUK ADSORPSI DAN DEGRADASI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED
This research aims to synthesize NiFe2O4/activated carbon@ZnO composite used in the adsorption and degradation process of Congo red dye. The synthesized product was characterized using XRD, VSM and UV-Vis DRS instruments against Congo red dye in various pH, dye concentration, and contact time. The synthesis of the NiFe2O4/activated carbon@ZnO composite was carried out using precipitation method to produce a light brown powder which has magnetic properties. XRD characterization results showed the highest intensity at 2θ angle of 36.25° with a crystallite size of 20,26 nm. VSM characterization showed a saturation magnetization value of 23.36 emu/g. UV-Vis DRS characterization show that the NiFe2O4/activated carbon@ZnO energy gap was 2.01 eV. Magnetic nanoparticles NiFe2O4/activated carbon@ZnO has a pHpzc of 6.50. The best condition for Congo red dye adsorption using the NiFe2O4/activated carbon@ZnO composite was at pH 5 with a concentration 20 mg/L and a contact time of 60 minutes. The effectiveness of concentration obtained by UV irradiation was 63.02% and without UV irradiation was 55.11%. NiFe2O4/activated carbon@ZnO can be used to degrade congo red dye.
