PENGARUH TEMPERATUR PIROLISIS TERHADAP KUALITAS KARBON AKTIF DARI BATUBARA LIGNIT
This study aims to determine the effect of temperature on the quality of activated carbon from lignite coal through the pyrolysis process. Activated carbon is made at a temperature increase rate of 0.5 dergress celcius per second . This test was carried out using temperature variations of 450, 500, 550, and 600 dergress celcius. Activated carbon was tested for quality by measuring water content, ash content, volatile matter content, bound carbon content, iodine absorption capacity, methylene blue, calorific value, and characterization was carried out using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The results of the activated carbon quality test showed that the best activated carbon was at a temperature of 600 dergress celcius which had a water content of 1.66 percen, ash content of 6.17 percen, volatile matter content of 2.58 percen, bound carbon of 89.59 percen, and calorific value of 7055.01 calories per gram. The iodine number of activated carbon at a temperature of 600 dergress celcius obtained was 366.82 miligram per gram, while the methylene blue number obtained was 15.73 miligram per gram, and the surface area obtained was 373.82 meter persegi per gram, the micropore volume was 0.1116 centi kubik per gram, and the total pore volume was 0.2035 centimeter kubik per gram. The results of the XRD characterization of activated carbon showed that the peak 2theta = 21.16dergress was a graphite peak and 2theta = 43.11dergress was a carbon peak.
