FAKTOR-FAKTOR PENYEBAB LANSIA TINGGAL DI PANTI SOSIAL TRESNA WERDHA WARGATAMA INDRALAYA

Human development starts from birth to old age (elderly). Elderly people are people aged 60 years and over. In old age, many changes occur, both physical, psychological and social. This situation requires instrumental, physical support, care and housing. In their old age, most elderly people live with their families and some also live in social institutions.The aim of the research was to determine the factors that cause elderly people to live in the Social Institutions Tresna Werdha Warga Tama Indralaya. This type of research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. The research subjects consisted of 9 people, namely 8 elderly people and 1 nursing home officer. The results of the research show that elderly people living in institutions experience decreased physical function and suffer from disease, as evidenced by the fact that elderly people experience sore feet, lack of hearing, get tired easily and feel short of breath. The elderly also suffer from rheumatism, gout and high blood pressure. The psychological aspect before living in the social institutions was sad, there was no one to take care of them and they felt unable to pay for their living needs and they felt neglected by the family. According to the social institutions staff, this was not always true, according to the family "the aim of the family in entrusting them is so that the elderly have their living needs met. The elderly who live in The social institution experienced health problems, such as: shortness of breath, leg pain, rheumatism, gout and high blood pressure, apart from that, the elderly previously felt that they lacked love from their children and family. Elderly people enjoy living in social institutions, there are lots of friends of the same age so they can share with other elderly people and do various activities. Conclusion the factors causing the elderly to live in the Social Institutions Tresna Werdha Warga Tama Indralaya were that internally there was a decline in physical function and suffering from illness and psychologically sad, there was no one to take care of them and they were incapable and they felt neglected by their family. Externally, there are various health problems, lack of love and attention from the family. Apart from that, elderly people like living in institutions because they can share and interact with other elderly people, the existence of various activities are among the factors that cause elderly people to want to live in social institutions. Recommended that the social institutions to families to visit the elderly at certain times, increase the types of activities for the elderly, for example holding recreation, in locations that are close and affordable.
