POTENSI BAKTERI PENGHASIL BIOSURFAKTAN ASAL KOLAM INLET OIL CATCHER 8 PT KPI RU III PLAJU SEBAGAI AGEN BIODEGRADASI SENYAWA HIDROKARBON

Energy needs continue to increase in Indonesia by 1,185.56 BOE (Barrel of Oil Equivalent) which is dominated by petroleum energy. This causes widespread petroleum management activities which produce waste in the form of hydrocarbon compounds because they are toxic to the environment. Management of hydrocarbon compounds needs to be done, one of which is through bioremediation using bacteria. This research aims to obtain bacterial isolates that are capable of producing biosurfactants. The stages of this research began with taking air contaminated with hydrocarbon compounds at the Inlet Oil Catcher Pertamina RU III Plaju, isolating bacteria, purifying and screening bacteria, followed by biosurfactant activity tests and finally characterization and identification of bacteria. The results obtained showed that 3 of the 6 bacterial isolates were able to form clear zones on blood agar. Biosurfactant activity was measured for 3 bacteria using the oil dispersion test for each isolate OC8B, OC8E, OC8F with the 60th hour observation results, namely 0.8 cm, 1.1 cm and 0.95 cm. The greatest emulsification ability after an incubation time of 72 hours was 37.9%, 42.8%, 27.5%, respectively. Biosurfactant production through emulsification activity increased starting from the 12 th hour in line with the growth in the number of bacterial cells, then accumulated until the number of bacterial cells decreased in the death phase at the 72 nd hour, indicating its potential as a biodegradation agent for hydrocarbon compounds. Isolates OC8B and OC8E are thought to have identical characteristics to the genus Bacillus, while isolate OC8F is thought to come from the genus Listeria.
