TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP PENGUNJUNG DI RSUD SITI FATIMAH TERHADAP TATALAKSANA NEURORESTORASI PADA PASIEN STROKE
Stroke is a leading cause of global disability, accounting for over 160 million Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) worldwide. In the effort to rehabilitate stroke patients, neurorestoration is a highly crucial therapeutic approach. However, visitors’ understanding of this management is still limited. Adequate knowledge and a positive attitude from the family and the patient play a crucial role in supporting the success of the neurological recovery process. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge and attitude of visitors at Siti Fatimah Regional General Hospital towards neurorestoration management in stroke patients. This study utilized a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 98 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique at the Outpatient and Rehabilitation Polyclinic of Siti Fatimah Regional General Hospital Palembang, from August to October 2025. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed descriptively using IBM SPSS. The respondents’ level of knowledge showed that 39 people (39.8%) had good knowledge, 32 people (32.7%) had moderate knowledge, and 27 people (27.6%) had poor knowledge. The respondents attitude showed that 62 people (63.3%) had a positive attitude, 29 people (29.6%) had a neutral attitude, and 7 people (7.1%) had a negative attitude. Respondent characteristics were dominated by the 26-35 age group (27.6%), females (52.0%), high school/equivalent education (37.8%), married (69.4%), employed (56.1%), patient's family (69.4%), no history of illness (77.6%), no prior experience caring for stroke patients (79.6%), and no prior exposure to information about stroke and neurorestoration (64.3%). Although visitors at Siti Fatimah Regional General Hospital showed a strong positive attitude towards neurorestoration management, their level of knowledge was found to be dominated by the moderate and poor category. This indicates a significant knowledge gap among the public that needs to be addressed, particularly concerning the minimal exposure to information they have received. More systematic and easily accessible health education programs are needed to increase public understanding of the importance of neurorestoration in stroke patient recovery.
