ANALISIS KUALITAS KIMIA AIR MINUM KEMASAN DAN RISIKO KESEHATAN

Liman, Dzakki Ridho - Personal Name;

Background: Packaged drinking water (AMDK) is widely consumed due to its convenience and perceived hygiene; however, its chemical quality does not always meet established standards. Components such as pH and heavy metals exceeding permissible limits can pose health risks. Therefore, an analysis of AMDK chemical quality based on the Environmental Quality Standard (SBMKL) PMK No. 2 of 2023 is necessary to ensure consumer safety. Objective: This study aimed to assess the physical and chemical quality of AMDK circulating in Palembang based on SBMKL (PMK No. 2 of 2023 / SNI 3553:2015) and to identify its potential health risks. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study analyzed 50 AMDK brands randomly collected from retail outlets in Palembang during October–November 2025. Rapid tests were performed using a 16-in-1 reagent strip for physical parameters (pH, turbidity, odor, taste) and chemical parameters: alkalinity, carbonate root, hardness, total chlorine, free chlorine, bromine, cyanuric acid, nitrate (NO₃), fluoride (F), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), iron (Fe), and lead (Pb). Results were compared to SBMKL / Ministry of Health regulations and SNI limits. Results: Among the 50 AMDK samples tested, most chemical parameters met the standards set by the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017, SNI 3553:2015, and WHO guidelines. Hardness, total chlorine, free chlorine, bromine, fluoride, chromium, copper, mercury, iron, cyanuric acid, and lead all showed 100% compliance, while nitrate was compliant in 98% of samples. The parameters most frequently out of compliance were pH (76%), alkalinity (62%), and carbonate root (64%). Conclusion: Most chemical parameters of the tested AMDK met national standards; however, significant issues with pH, alkalinity, and carbonate root were identified. Regular monitoring by producers and regulatory authorities (BPOM / Health Office) and adjustments in processing (remineralization or pH/alkalinity stabilization) are necessary to ensure long-term safety for consumers.
