PERAN INDONESIA BUSINESS COALITION FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT (IBCWE) DALAM MENDUKUNG PEMBERDAYAAN EKONOMI PEREMPUAN DAN KESETARAAN GENDER PADA SEKTOR SWASTA DI INDONESIA
In almost all cultures, being a man or a woman is not only limited to biological gender "sex" but also gender roles have emerged where man are called masculine while woman are called feminine. With the emergence of this assumption of difference, many people in Indonesia still hold the view that only man have the ability to make decisions, determine ideology, have greater economic opportunities and become leaders. This means that many aspects of existing activities, including politics, business and work are almost on average dominated by man, giving rise to a gender gap. With this polemic, gender equality for woman in the workplace really needs to be supported by various parties, both from companies, organizations and the government. One of them is through the Indonesia Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE), which is an NGO and is committed to encouraging women's economic empowerment and gender equality in the private sector. The conceptual framework used in this research is the concept of 'The Role of Non-Government Organizations (NGOs)' put forward by David Lewis. The method used in this research is a qualitative-descriptive method with data sources obtained both primary and secondary. By conducting this research, researchers concluded that the presence of IBCWE as a forum with the aim of supporting women's empowerment and gender equality would certainly be something very positive for workers. IBCWE has created many positive activities and things to support women's empowerment and gender equality, especially in the private sector, such as creating Gender Bias Awareness Training programs, Addressing Gender Bias in Modern Workplace Training, GEARS and EDGE Certification. Apart from that, IBCWE also collaborates with its members and partners to form positive activities and contribute to voicing women's empowerment and gender equality.
