HUBUNGAN BAYI BERAT LAHIR RENDAH DENGAN PENYAKIT JANTUNG BAWAAN DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN

Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a congenital abnormality that increases mortality and morbidity in early life. Infants with low birth weight (LBW) have a higher risk of developing CHD due to impaired organ maturation. Data on the association between LBW and CHD in Indonesia remain limited, particularly at dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital. Methods: This study was an analytical observational research with a crosssectional design. A total of 54 subjects were obtained from the medical records of newborns at dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang, from January 1, 2024, to January 1, 2025. Results: Most subjects were LBW infants (64,8%). Congenital heart disease was more frequently observed in the LBW group (51,8%), with acyanotic CHD being the most common type (48,1%). There was no significant association between LBW status and the occurrence of CHD (OR 2,33; 95% CI 0,67–8,12; p=0,177), nor between LBW status and CHD type (OR 2,60; 95% CI 0,32–21,05; p=0,570). Conclusion: There was no significant association between LBW status and the occurrence of CHD in newborns. Keywords: Low Birth Weight, Congenital Heart Disease, Risk Factors, Neonates.
