PEMBUATAN ALAT TAMBAHAN UNTUK PENGERJAAN ALUR SEGI EMPAT PADA PROSES PEMESINAN BUBUT KONVENSIONAL
Attachment are specially designed to facilitate manufacturing processes. Essentially, the function of such attachment tools is to ensure production quality, reduce costs, improve production time efficiency, and increase overall output. In this study, efforts were made to introduce variations of feeding modeling in the turning process using an additional attachment tool. This attachment is installed on a lathe machine to replace the tool holder and functions as the main driver in the machining process through translational motion, while the workpiece is mounted on the machine chuck. In this configuration, the lathe machine is essentially kept stationary and serves as a platform for positioning both the workpiece and the auxiliary tool. Under these conditions, the attachment tool performs the translational cutting motion similar to that of a shaping machine. The attachment tool that was developed has met the expected criteria based on the initial 2D and 3D design modeling using SolidWorks, along with the application of the finite element method to obtain stress, strain, displacement, and safety factor values for operator safety. Furthermore, testing was conducted to ensure the operational suitability of the tool in machining square grooves on an aluminium pulley.
