PENGARUH MEDIA ATRAKTAN TERHADAP FEKUNDITAS DAN LAMA HIDUP Hermetia illucens

Black soldier flies (Hermetia illucens L.) are a group of insects in the order Diptera, which have complete metamorphosis. The obstacle experienced during the rearing process is that a small number of eggs are obtained, therefore efforts are made to increase the population of black soldier flies by providing bait in the form of food that is an attractant for female imagoes to lay large numbers of eggs. The attractant media used in this research were fermented bran, rotten pineapple, rotten banana and cassava tapai. This study aims to determine the effect of providing attractant media on egg weight and life span of black soldier flies. This research was carried out from January to April 2021, located in the animal physiology laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. This research was an attractant medium consisting of: fermented bran, rotten pineapple, rotten banana and cassava tapai. Each treatment was repeated 6 times. 1000 flies were taken with a male to female ratio of 1:1 and put into the mating cage. The weight of the eggs and the length of life of the imago were observed. The results of the research showed that the attractant media had an influence on egg weight and imago life span. The attractant media of rice bran and rotten pineapple had the highest survival time and the highest egg weight, namely 0.081 mg. while the egg weight was the lowest in the rice bran medium and the shortest life span was in the rice bran and rotten banana treatment. The conclusion was that the best attractant media for egg weight was found in rice bran and rotten pineapple media (0.081 mg) while the highest survival time was obtained in rice bran and rotten banana media.
