REPRESENTASI DISFUNGSI KELUARGA DALAM FILM GARA-GARA WARISAN (ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA JOHN FISKE)

Film is one of the mass media that is used to convey social reality in society. The phenomenon of dysfunction in the family is often something that is still widely ignored by society, so that without realizing it has created an unhealthy environment in the family which ultimately has an impact on the sustainability of the household. This research is a descriptive qualitative study conducted to see how the representation of family dysfunction that occurs in the movie Gara-Gara Warisan using the semiotic method by John Fiske with three levels of coding consisting of the level of reality, the level of representation and the level of ideology. The results of this study found how family dysfunction shown in the film Gara-Gara Warisan occurs due to poor relationships and communication between parents and children and fellow children, lack of attention and support from parents to children, parents unwilling to accept children's opinions, patriarchal cultural practices by the head of the family, and wrong parenting. The dysfunction that occurs in the family makes the relationship between fellow family members become tenuous and cannot even trust each other because there is no strong emotional connection.
