HUBUNGAN ANTARA PERLAKUAN CATCALLING DENGAN SELF ESTEEM PADA MAHASISWI DI KOTA PALEMBANG DAN IMPLIKASINYA DALAM BIMBINGAN DAN KONSELING
Catcalling is a form of verbal sexual harassment that is often experienced by women in public spaces, and has an impact on the psychological condition of victims, including self esteem. This study aims to determine the effect of catcalling treatment on self esteem in female students in Palembang City. Catcalling is one form of verbal sexual harassment that is common in public spaces and can have an impact on the psychological aspects of victims, especially self esteem. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population in this study were female students from six universities in Palembang City, with a total sample of 404 respondents obtained through purposive sampling technique. The results of data analysis using simple linear regression showed that there was a negative and significant relationship between catcalling treatment on self esteem in female students (p < 0.05). That is, the higher the intensity of catcalling treatment experienced, the lower the level of self esteem owned by female students. The implications of this research can be applied in guidance and counseling services such as information services and group guidance services that aim to help victims of catcalling in increasing self esteem.
