HUBUNGAN PERILAKU MEROKOK TERHADAP KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PENGEMUDI OJEK ONLINE

Pratiwi, Eka - Personal Name;

Smoking behaviour can increase LDL cholesterol levels in the blood due to chemicals contained in cigarettes, such as nicotine. Online motorcycle taxi drivers have heavy smoking behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between smoking behavior and the total cholesterol levels in online motorcycle taxi drivers. The design in this study was quantitative observational analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling was carried out by purposive sampling according to the inclusion criteria, with the sample was 40 online motorcycle taxi drivers who smoke in the Tangga Takat Community and the Cross Community. Data collection used questionnaires and total cholesterol level examination used the Point of Care Testing (POCT) method using the Easy Touch tool. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test with a value of α = 0,05. The results of the study showed that most of respondents (72.5%) had good total cholesterol levels, respondents who had high total cholesterol levels were 6 respondents (15%), and respondents who had upper threshold total cholesterol levels were 5 people (12.5%). The results of the bivariate analysis was obtained that there was no significant relationship between smoking behavior and the total cholesterol levels in online motorcycle taxi drivers (p-value 0,112). Increased cholesterol levels are influenced by various factors, not only smoking. It is necessary to raise awareness of health behaviour among online motorcycle taxi drivers by avoiding smoking and maintaining cholesterol levels within normal limits.
