Stunting, or short stature, is a chronic nutritional problem that impacts a child’s physical growth and development. In Indonesia, Stunting cases remain high, icluding in Prabumulih City. This condition is influenced by many factors, such as low birth weight (LBW), maternal education, economic status, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding (MP-ASI), child’s dietary pattern, and environmental sanitation. The objective of this study is to disclose the characteristics of mothers with stunted toddlers in Prabumulih City. The study used a descriptive analytical method with a purposive sampling technique. The number of respondents was 59 mothers with stunted toddlers. The results of the study revealed that the frequency distribution of maternal histories of low birth weight (LBW) babies in Prabumulih City was the highest at 36 (61.0%). The highest maternal education was high school (25) (42.4%), the highest socioeconomic status was low (40) (67.8%), the highest history of exclusive breastfeeding was not exclusive breastfeeding (35) (59.3%), the highest history of complementary feeding (MPASI) was inappropriate (39) (66.1%), the highest feeding pattern was inappropriate (36) (61.0%), and the highest environmental sanitation was adequate (39) (61.0%). This study shows that most mothers with low birth weight (LBW) babies have a high school education and low socioeconomic status. The majority of mothers also do not provide exclusive breastfeeding or complementary feeding (MPASI), and have inappropriate feeding patterns. However, environmental sanitation in the area is generally adequate. The high stunting rate in Prabumulih City is influenced by a combination of socioeconomic factors and inadequate early nutritional practices, despite relatively adequate sanitation conditions.
