DETERMINAN PEMANFAATAN PELAYANAN ANTENATAL CARE DI INDONESIA (ANALISIS DATA RISKESDAS 2018) S

Pasaribu, Fatimah Azhara - Personal Name;

Antenatal care is a globally recommended strategy by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to reduce maternal mortality. The purpose of this study was to analyse the factors that influence the utilisation of antenatal care services in Indonesia. This study is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design using Riskesdas data in 2018. The study sample totalled 80,648 women who were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analysed using chi-square statistical test for bivariate analysis and multiple logistic regression statistical test for multivariate analysis. The results showed that women who utilised antenatal care services were 95.3%. The characteristics that have a significant association with the utilisation of antenatal care services in Indonesia are the age of the mother 20-35 years, the educational status of the mother who is educated, the employment status of the mother who is not working and the mother's residence in urban areas. The most dominant variable was maternal residence with an adjusted PR of 2.609 (95%CI: 2.321-2.932) after controlling for other variables. This study concludes that urban residence is the most influential factor on antenatal care utilisation in Indonesia. Recommendations for the government are expected to increase the number, quality of health facilities and health workers to all regions of Indonesia, especially rural areas and establish partnerships with private governments in supporting the implementation of maternal and child health programmes.
