ANALISIS STABILITAS LERENG HIGHWALL DENGAN METODE SPENCER DI PIT KUNGKILAN UTARA PT BUMI MERAPI ENERGI, KABUPATEN LAHAT, SUMATERA SELATAN
Slope stability is a crucial aspect that must be addressed to ensure the operational safety and sustainability of a mining project. A landslide that occurred in mid-2024 at Pit Kungkilan Utara of PT Bumi Merapi Energi caused significant negative impacts, such as operational disruption and increased safety risks for workers. As a preventive measure, a slope analysis was conducted on the pit adjacent to the landslide area. Furthermore, considering the onset of the rainy season, the slope was analyzed under saturated conditions to better represent the full-scale field environment. The objectives of this study were to determine the geotechnical characteristics of the slope material in the North Kungkilan pit of PT. BME, assess the slope stability conditions, and recommend a safe re-design based on the analysis to maintain stable and optimal slope conditions.The research methodology involved data collection and slope analysis using the Spencer method with the aid of the Rocscience Slide software. The results indicate stable conditions in two slope sections and a critical condition in one slope section, exhibiting a dynamic Factor of Safety (FS) of 0.952. Consequently, a geometrical redesign was performed, yielding a new dynamic FS of 1.1, which falls into the stable category and is deemed safe for mining operations.
