PENGARUH BOOKEAT TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN IBU TENTANG PICKY EATER PADA ANAK PRASEKOLAH DI TK NEGERI 1 TANJUNG LAGO
Picky eater is a food picky behavior that is common in preschoolers and can affect nutritional adequacy that it has an impact on children’s growth and development. Mother’s low knowledge of picky eaters is one of the factors causing picky eaters in preschoolers. Health education with a combination of media is recommended to make it easier for mothers to understand the information provided. This study aimed to find out the influence of BOOKEAT educational media on mothers’ knowledge about picky eaters in preschool children. This study was a quantitative research using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 45 respondents selected through purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was in the form of a knowledge questionnaire that was already tested for its validity and reliability. The intervention was carried out through the provision of education using a combination of booklet and BOOKEAT video media. The data analysis was carried out by nonparametric statistical test using the Marginal Homogenity test. The results showed that before the intervention was given, 28 (62,2%) respondents had knowledge in the sufficient category, while after the intervention there were 44 respondents (97,8%) having good knowledge. The results of the statistical test showed that the p value was 0.000 (α ≤ 0.05), meaning that intervention in the form of BOOKEAT education had a significant effect on mothers’ knowledge of picky eaters. The conclusion of this study is that the BOOKEAT media is effective in increasing the mothers’ knowledge about picky eaters in the preschool children. It is recommended that the BOOKEAT media be used as an alternative to visual and audiovisual media-based health education interventions to improve the maternal knowledge in supporting the optimal children’s diet, growth, and development.
