KERJASAMA INDONESIA-FILIPINA MELALUI BAKAMLA DAN PHILIPPINE COAST GUARD UNTUK MENANGANI ILLEGAL FISHING
Illegal fishing crimes that occur in the sea border between Indonesia and the Philippines have become a detrimental problem and can threaten relations between the two countries. In response to the rampant illegal fishing carried out by Filipino fishermen in the border sea, the two countries entered into cooperation under a memorandum of understanding or MOU on Maritime Security Cooperation through two agencies from two countries, namely the Maritime Security Agency of the Republic of Indonesia and the Philippine Coast Guard. This research aims to discuss how Indonesia-Philippines cooperation through BAKAMLA and PCG in handling illegal fishing cases. With this research, it is hoped that it will be able to become a basis for learning about marine resource governance in determining policy direction, and can be used as material for evaluating marine resource management in order to improve work systems in the future. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data collection technique used is literature and internet-based studies. The theory used in this research is the theory of bilateral cooperation to see how cooperation is carried out by Indonesia and the Philippines in dealing with illegal fishing. The results of this research show that the existence of a memorandum of understanding or MOU facilitates cooperation between the two countries in monitoring and taking action against crimes in border sea areas, especially illegal fishing crimes.
