ANALISIS GEOMETRI STOCKPILE DALAM UPAYA PENCEGAHAN DAN PENANGANAN POTENSI TERJADINYA SWABAKAR DI PT. BATU HITAM JAYA JAMBI
PT. Batu Hitam Jaya is a coal mining company operating in Batanghari Regency, Jambi Province. This research aims to analyze the influence of stockpile geometry on the potential for spontaneous combustion of coal in the company's storage area. The research methods include measuring pile dimensions such as height, slope angle, and pile shape, internal pile temperature, wind direction and speed, as well as observation of the stacking system and the implementation of the FIFO (First In First Out) method. The results show that the windrow stacking pattern with a truncated pyramid shape and an average height of 2.37–5.15 meters has a high potential for spontaneous combustion due to heat accumulation and poor air circulation. The main causative factors are non-ideal pile geometry, lengthy storage time, and inconsistent application of FIFO. Prevention efforts are carried out by limiting the maximum pile height to 5 meters, maintaining slope angles ≤ 38°, installing windshields to control wind direction, and applying watering with a Hydrosol solution. Furthermore, periodic temperature monitoring is recommended for early detection of potential temperature increases within the pile. The results of this study confirm that proper stockpile geometry management plays an important role in reducing the risk of spontaneous combustion and improving the efficiency and safety of mining operations.
