Cahyani, Riska Junita - Personal Name;

This study aimed to explore the perceptions of eighth-semester students from the English Education Study Program at Sriwijaya University regarding the use of the Spotify application as an additional medium for acquiring English vocabulary. A total of 42 students who reported using Spotify participated in this research. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method using open-ended questionnaires distributed via Google Forms, with data analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings revealed that students held predominantly positive perceptions toward Spotify application. Students considered the Spotify application was easy to use, improved the English vocabulary skills, enjoyable, more effective than traditional method for learning English vocabulary. The use of music and audio content helped reduce boredom and made the learning process more dynamic and interesting. Features such as lyrics display and podcasts were highlighted as particularly helpful for students in acquiring their English vocabularies. Furthermore, Spotify was seen as increasing students' motivation and making vocabulary learning more engaging. However, some students faced challenges, including limited access in the free version, difficulty understanding slang, and fast-paced audio. Despite these obstacles, most participants expressed their willingness to continue using Spotify in the future for vocabulary development. Keywords: Learning through music, Spotify application, Students’ perception and English vocabulary learning
