IDENTIFIKASI JENIS MAKROFITA PADA TEPIAN RAWA YANG BERPOTENSI SEBAGAI TANAMAN HIAS DI DESA MUARA PENIMBUNG ULU INDRALAYA KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR
Macrophytes are plants that grow in water and possess potential as ornamental plants due to their aesthetic value and ecological function. This research was conducted in the swamp area of Muara Penimbung Ulu Village, Indralaya Subdistrict, Ogan Ilir Regency, aiming to identify swamp macrophyte species with ornamental potential. The method used was an exploratory approach through direct observation of macrophyte vegetation in the field. The identification process was carried out using a taxonomic approach and herbarium preparation in the laboratory. The results showed eight macrophyte species from five families: Salviniaceae, Haloragaceae, Araceae, Pontederiaceae, and Nymphaeaceae, with Salviniaceae being the dominant family. Based on their growth form, the macrophytes were categorized into three types: free-floating, floating, and submergent. Ornamental plant categories were determined by the primary decorative organs, namely flowers and leaves. Abiotic factors such as water depth, pH, and muddy litter-rich substrate influenced the presence of macrophyte vegetation. The findings indicate that swamp ecosystems have both ecological and economic potential for the development of environmentally friendly local aquatic ornamental plants.
